The Cognitive Neuroscience Society defines the field of cognitive neuroscience as “an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the nature of thought.”  This initiative recognizes and helps to bring together Case Western Reserve University's strengths in cognitive neuroscience.

Cognitive neuroscience is a branch of both psychology and neuroscience. The advent of imaging technologies has stimulated major growth in this research area.
