| Hello,We are going to study large lattice mismatch II-VI semiconductor quantum wells in quantum dots (QWQDs) consisting of ZnS and CdS. These QWQDs will be nanoscopic particles with an onion-type, core-shell architecture, consisting of epitaxial layers of ZnS and CdS. Owing to the extremely small dimensions of the nano-particles, the inherent ZnS/CdS interfaces will have an extremely high curvature, which is anticipated to better allow for lattice-mismatch accommodation. An effective search for optimum fabrication parameters necessitates retrieving structural and chemical information at or near the atomic scale. This requires advanced methods of high-resolution and analytical transmission electron microscopy. A combination of high-resolution and analytical TEM together with iterative image simulation procedures will be used to achieve atomic scale resolution of the 3D nanocrystal structure. |
