Head Unit Appearance Modification...

The head unit I used to exploration was an old cassette player Delco that I bought off of ebay for $10. I plan to use this head unit for the amplifier since my car already has a decent stock one.

This is the main circuit board notice all of the pushbutton switches and LED's. There are also some bulbs for backlighting the display...

This is a close-up on the LED's and switches. A pushbutton switch consists of two prongs soldered onto the circuit board which break a circuit. When pressed, the circuit is closed and the button performs is function.

This is yet another pictures of the front circuit board, this time with the flash on...

As you can see, what causes this glow in this particular design is the coloration of the paint on the back of the button....

A possible solution to remove this paint could be to use any kind of paint thinner or nail polish remover. It will take some experimentation.

Now, what does this all mean? Well, you can possibly change the coloration of the head unit's display by removing the paint from the backs of the buttons and repainting them with stained glass paint with your color choice. You would also have to change the LED's to a different color (they are 3mm in diameter if you were wondering).
