Compatability
The compatibility of the iPod has helped lead to its success. Apple developed the product for easy universal use. The options available on the iPod do not have many restrictions for use. Also, there are many external features that can be added for extra entertainment.
Apple has arranged an iTunes Music Store for users to download songs, movies, and more. The store includes over 2 million songs, 2 thousand music videos, 11 thousand Audiobooks, and TV clips from the ABC and Disney channels. Surprisingly, the price of these downloads is very inexpensive.
Music, video, and photos are easily transferred onto the iPod. The device is compatible with Mac OS X and Windows 2000/XP, so very few people should have problems connecting it to their computer. Once the user has arranged their information, a convenient USB connector, which plugs into the computer, transmits the information to the iPod.
An extra feature that iPod users can purchase is the Universal Dock, which includes a remote. This dock allows them to connect the iPod to their Mac, PC, a stereo system, or a TV. S-video, AV, or USB cables are all acceptable ways of transferring data from this source. With this, a person can display their photograph slideshow on a TV, for example. Also, a USB adapter provides a way of easily charging up the iPod through a non-conventional means.
There are some more adapters that extend the entertainment use of the iPod. One of these products is a car adapter. This allows a user to play the iPod music on a car stereo system by a weak transmitter being placed on the device and dialing the car radio to pick up specific channel. There are, also, many special speakers that attach directly to the iPod. Other extra features available to iPod users include a camera connector, iPod socks and tubes (for protection), and an armband.
