The Unofficial CWRU-SOM Survival Guide
DRAFT
Welcome to the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine!
You are about to embark on the most exciting four years of your life,
and this guide is designed to help you out with those first few months
of adjustment. This is a work in progress, so we will likely be adding
to it all the time. We have drawn upon the wisdom of older students,
the experience of the class of 2005, and we look forward to hearing from
you, the Class of 2006, on your suggestions and recommendations.
We'd like to thank previous classes, mostly the Classes of 2000 and 2001
and students in the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) for their
work on much of the text in this document. Also, many thanks to the
members of the Classes of 2004 and 2005 for their contributions as well.
This is an unofficial guide. You will not find much related
to academic policy, individual committees, or other "official" stuff. Instead,
we want you to use this for practical advice--the thing that they don't
tell you (how do I find a place to live? where is the grocery
store? Now that I'm settled in, what is there to do other than school?)
Disclaimer:
This is an unofficial guide to the school. It is the work of many
students, but not necessarily administrators. Where there is a discrepancy
in information about school, please refer to the administration's information
as official.
Northeast Ohio is in a constant state of growth and change. As
such, not all information in this guide may be up to date. If you
find discrepancies in the information about the city, please e-mail us letting
us know so that we can correct it.
With that in mind, welcome to Cleveland!
