The Case Western Reserve University Swing Club is dedicated to the teaching, learning, and general enjoyment of all types of swing dance. Every week, we provide the students of CWRU with three hours of free instruction and two hours of open dancing in the hopes that attendees will come to love the dance as much as our dedicated members. Swing Club members gain the skills and confidence to dance socially, both with other members and with the greater swing community. The club connects members to the community by organizing rides to off campus dances for those who do not have cars, announcing out-of-town swing workshops and exchanges, alerting members to lessons being held at local dance studios, and otherwise illuminating the local and national swing dance scene. Traditionally, club members who so choose dance together to two live bands in Cleveland per month: one at Bohemian National Dance Hall and the other, Lakewood Masonic Temple. However, any given week is likely to see a few CWRU Swing Club members dancing off campus.

In order to bring the excitement of the swing scene to Case Western Reserve University, CWRU Swing Club occasionally hosts special events that welcome the entire campus and the dancing community. These events include weekend workshops that bring in nationally recognized dance instructors, dances to full swing bands, and basic footwork instruction before jazz band performances, among others. In our special events, lessons, off campus dancing, and other activities, the CWRU Swing Club encourages all people to find the joy in swing dance.
