Case School of Law is a leader in health law education. To supplement classroom learning and journal experiences, the students formed the Student Health Law Association (SHLA). SHLA is dedicated to the professional development of the students, faculty and alumni of Case in all areas of health law and is committed to the education, public discourse, and critical analysis of health law issues.

SHLA works closely with the Law-Medicine Center to provide an intellectually stimulating environment for students, faculty, attorneys, judges, healthcare professionals, and the Case and Cleveland communities to discuss topics ranging from bioethics to corporate health care issues.

In past years, SHLA members worked closely with the administration to create a Health Law Concentration, volunteered with the Health Law section of the Cleveland Bar Association, had the opportunity to become CPR certified, commented on the proposed changes to Ohio's Living Will form and listened to a wide variety of speakers discussing topics from "How the Law Impacts Cancer Research" to "The Child Murder Insanity Defense." In addition, SHLA has hosted fundraising parties during Mardi Gras and April Fools' Day among other social events.
