Combining Dance and Expression: Nritya is an Indian Classical Dance Group at the Case Western Reserve Univeristy, performing classical dances such as Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi. Nritya, as a classical dance, is divided into two main forms, Nritta and Abhinaya. Nritta is the abstract dance that includes only the steps and the flow of the dance. By itself, it does not convey a message. Abhinaya, on the other hand, is the expression of moods by facial and hand movement. Combining both forms generates a well-flowing stream of movements filled with meaning. This combination is used to tell a story through movement. |
