Mid-Ohio Grand Prix Road Race 3/26/2005 Photo Gallery

We sent 5 racers to the Mid-Ohio Grand Prix road race, which was sponsored by Team Columbus. Every field this weekend was really fast, especially considering how early it is in the season. It seems that everyone must have been excited to be on a grand prix racecar track and decided to up the tempo!

Offical results have not been posted. Below are some of my race summaries

Cat 3/4 - extremely fast field. pretty large break seperated the field into a few pelotons. john reade hung on for a mid-pack finish.

Cat 4/5 - fairly large field. avg'd 24mph for 26mi. peloton stayed together well, and eventually picked up some cat 3/4 racers and citizens along the way. tight sprint to finish after a flat 200 meter straight. 2 people managed to get a 2 bike-length lead on the peloton, taking 1st and 2nd. the 3-5 places were seperated by only a few centimeters. utilizing video replay, it took the race officials about an hour to decide the places, eventually granting mike griffith 5th (mistimed the jump from my lead-out man). steve previs hung on for a top 10 finish.

Citizens - don yungher hung in with the pack for the first few laps, then broke away from the field and soloed his way until meeting the cat 4/5's, where he hung on to finish 1st in his category.

Womens - field got pretty destroyed, and a tight peloton didn't last long. andrea vasilevski soloed her way to the finish.

Below are a few pics from the race. Sorry for not actually thumbnailing them.. i'm too lazy right now. (right click and save-as to get the full-sized versions)
