Ohio State University criterium 3/6/2005 Photo Gallery

I must say it was a heck of a weekend. The OU road race on saturday got cancelled because of a snowstorm that made some backroads near Lake Hope state park dangerous, but the sunshine came out and dried everything up (for the most part) and we were able to ride saturday afternoon and race sunday.

The OSU crit at Slate Run metroparks in Marcy, OH was definately still a little chilly in the early morning, and the strong winds didn't do much to help, but all 3 of our racers finished. The course was a square with some nice semi-banked turns at then end of each of the 1 mile straights. It went something like this: avg 30mph with the nice tailwind -> turn -> get blown off the side of the road -> turn -> find somebody big to hide behind to stay out of the roaring headwind -> turn -> get blown off the other side of the road -> turn -> rinse and repeat. I must say, the pack did a pretty darned good job at staying tight for most of the race in both mens c and womens b.

So the results you've all been waiting for... In mens C, Mike Griffith took 5th and Don Yungher took 29th. In womens B, Miriam Israelowitz took 21st. Way to go!

Can Indiana Univ. be any more dominant? They won 4 out of the 5 races. In mens A they had 7 out of the top 9 places. In mens B they had all of the top 7 places. In womens A they had all of the top 6 places. The womens B race was the only race they didn't win. Wow! OK, enough talk of them.

Below are a few pics from the race. They're super low resolution because the server tells me that I'm occupying too much space. So, if you want any high res (or other pics) let me know. And the pictures...

ok, this was actually at the ou course on saturday before a ride, but i figured it was a good enough picture to include

mike after not being able to hang with the 4 others on the last little climb before the finish and settling for 5th. i guess i shouldn't have pulled so long on the final lap in the headwind section trying to catch the break.

Special thanks go to our advisor Steve for coming along even though he didn't get to ride.
