Cheerleading Requirements

Anyone wanting to join the sports club of Spartan Cheerleaders is welcome to come to practices. The Spartan Cheerleaders will not discriminate due to race, religion, sex, or ethnic background. An organizational meeting will be held at the beginning of each fall semester announcing the start of the season. Each member must obey the laws and regulations of the sports club manual and qualify to be in a sports club according to the guidelines set by the manual. Anyone who wishes to join must also assume financial responsibility for anything purchased that is not being returned to the University (e.g. shoes, bodysuit, briefs, and other items). Financial obligations will be made clear to each member at the beginning of the year.

There are two separate divisions of the Spartan Cheerleaders. These divisions require separate meetings. All members are able to participate in both sections if they wish to. The first is the cheerleading squad. This consists primarily of females, although no discrimination shall take place if someone of the opposite sex would like to join. The second division is the stunting and tumbling squad. In order for a female to be a part of the stunting and tumbling division, she must participate in the cheer and dance practices as well. Female and male stunters are required to follow a workout routine in order to keep in shape and to reduce the risk of injury.
