Communism - Everyone shares everything. No one has more or less money than anyone else. The idea is that everyone deserves to have an equal part of wealth because everyone's work is equally important.
Capitalism - An economic system where people own things. Some people have money; some don't. The idea is that what is needed more at the time is worth more.
Reason- The way to tell human beings from animals is that humans have reason. It is thought that it is naturally in humans, as opposed to learning. It can also be contrasted with emotions.
Rationality - Rationality is thought that is logical.
Marxism - The kind of communism that Marx thought was good.
Subjective - Something that deals with or is learned by your own experience because you are the subject.
Objective - Something that deals with or is learned because of another object, not your own experience.
Hermeneutics - The science of interpretation and explanation.
Alienation - The feeling that you are separated from something. Marx uses it to talk about how workers feel alone and separated from what they make.
Epoch - A big event that causes something new or important in history.
Technology -where science meets real life. Think about a computer or a car.
Idealism -Physical things do not exist. Using rationality, we can only believe in ideas.
Dialectic - a system that tries to figure out what the truth is by using logic. Picture it as another discussion. This time two people are using their reason and rational to come to the truth.
Autonomy - independence or freedom from someone or something trying to control you
Dualism - the idea that humans are made of two parts. These two parts are matter, or the body, and spirit, or the mind.
