| Near Vancouver Island there are many
smaller islands. The BC ferries pass each other in this narrow
passage between Tsawassen (the mainland) and Vancouver Island
where Victoria, BC, is. Passengers on the ferries can watch all
kinds of sport water and air craft on this trip. |

This is the "Fabled Cottage"
north of Victoria. The design is taken from drawings in fantasy
tales such as "Hansel and Gretel." All of the roof
shingles are hand cut. There are matching picture windows on
both sides of the house. The back window looks over the Strait
of Georgia between Vancouver Island and the mainland. The house
is heated by running steamor hot water through tubes in the floor.
It was built to live in, but the original owners moved out after
years of putting up with tourists. |
