Description

Math 402 is the continuation of Math 401, a graduate level course in abstract algebra, the fundamental structures of which are rings and their modules. Highlights include the structure theorem for finitely generated modules over a principal ideal domain and the fundamental theorem of Galois theory.

Coordinates

Math 402 meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in Yost 101 from 2:00pm to 2:50pm.

Weekly homework assignments will be collected at the beginning of class every Wednesday. The final examination will be a take home exam.

Algebra, by Thomas W. Hungerford, published by Springer.

Office hours

Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 1:00pm in Yost 240.
