5-NITP selectively inhibits translesion DNA synthesis and can be used as a therapeutic agent

Non-natural nucleotide analogs such as 5-nitroindolyl triphosphate acts as Chain terminator against abasic DNA synthesis.

Substituted indoyl nucleosides and nucleotides exhibit cytoxicity against certain cancer cell lines and could be developed into chemotherapeutic agents to prevent as to treat cancer.
