The reason that we had to wait for low tide was that Shi Shi Beach has become a lot more popular thanks to the easy trail through the reservation that is now open. Since Nate and I don't really like people, we tried to get as far away from the crowd as possible, which meant going around that last headland. But after we did that, we had an entire cove and about a half mile of beach completely to ourselves. Not bad for an extra half mile of hiking. Here I am at our site. The tent was simply a precaution; the weather was great and we slept under the stars.
