Once everybody got in to Salt Lake City (at about 11:00 PM hippie time), we jumped in our rental car (Jeep Grand Cherokee) and were on our way. Since the Maze area is so desolate, we had to pick up all of our provisions for the entire 8 days we'd be down there, which we intended to do at the Walmart nearest the Maze. We were told of one that was open 24-7, but when we got there we found out they didn't open till 6 AM. Since it was only 3 AM, we decided to catch some z's in a horse pasture near the Walmart parking lot. This is a picture of Mark and I while I was changing into warmer clothes. I'd know him for all of three hours at this point, so I figured it was time we got familiar with each other.
