Here's another view in the morning. Although we were now a day behind schedule, Mark's backpack arriving late may have been a blessing in disguise, as we now faced a 13 mile hike. Our original plan was to do this on about two hours of sleep and starting near mid-day (not a good time to start a hike in the desert). Now we were starting it in the cool of the morning after a full night's sleep, which we would be thankful for later.
